artist statement
As an artist raised in Wisconsin and currently living in coastal Rhode Island, my work is motivated by the landscapes that have surrounded me throughout my life. I draw inspiration from the big skies and shimmering lakes of the midwest and the luminous oceans and marshes of New England — the light and the colors that elicit memory, yet are different every day. My paintings explore both the physical power of these scenes and the power they hold over us as images of endless beauty and inspiration. I hope my work captures some of that sense of wonder we all feel when we experience a beautiful scene in the world around us.

Diane Stratton is a painter and jewelry designer living in Rhode Island. Her paintings are abstractions inspired by light and color. As a jeweler, she works in sterling silver and 18k gold creating simple, elegant, wearable pieces. Diane is a graduate of Connecticut College and Rhode Island School of Design.
